About Us

I have  been in the jewelry business since 1978, and started
as  an  apprentise  in  Downtown Minneapolis. After 7 years,  I
went  out  on my own,  doing custom design jewelry and repairs
for  several  stores  in  the southern  metro area.    The  business
grew to a point where in 1987 it  was time to re-locate.  I  started
Class Jewelers, on  89th  and  Lyndale, with a partner,  and each
of us brought in our wholesale accounts, and a dream of building up a retail store.  Slowly we grew, adding jewelry cases, decor, inventory, and all the touches that made us look like a real store.  Slowly too, the customers started trickling in.  The growth in retail, and the deadlines of doing both wholesale and retail custom design work and repairs, plus the sales and office work, took its' toll on the partnership, and in 1996, my partner left, taking all the wholesale accounts with him.  I lasted another 3 years or so in Bloomington, until the building owner decided to renovate the building, and I was asked to vacate, with the promise I could return in 3 months time.  This opened up a new opportunity to look for a store closer to home, and in early 1999, I shook hands with Jerry Enggren, and moved into the downtown Lakeville location.  A year and a half  later,  we doubled the size of the store, added new jewelry cases, and the inventory to go with it.  In 2006,  Enggren's grocery store celebrated it's 100th year in business, and closed the next month, and the Enggren's decided to sell the building.  The building finally sold, and several months later,  leases were given to three of the tenants in the building, by the new owner.  Two of the other tenants were given 30 days to get out, and two were left hanging, without any notice what-so-ever.  I was one of the leases.  It was a no-brainer that I couldn't accept it, and so in June of 2007,  I decided to close the store, (this was the date given to me to sign the lease, or get out) and to take the business on-line.
Setting up the new shop, and office, and going through all the boxes of accumulation took way more time than I anticipated.  Along with that, I found out that paying someone to build the new website for me, was not a cheap thing.  I guess that being un-employed, made it hard to think of spending that much money... So I decided to write it myself.   Bear with me, until I learn the ins-and-outs of Web design.
The new business plan will display all of the Lakeville Jewelers product On-line, which is where many people start looking anyway.  The store will now be on display 24 hour a day, 365 days a year.  You can contact me by e-mail  anytime your schedule permits.   Communications and appointments are done with your schedule in mind.
The office in the Anchor Bank Building,  is a professional, secure place to meet me,  for all your jewelry needs, including seeing the on-line items in person, before you buy.  Less than a mile from the old location, we are more conveniently located, (Co. Rd. 50 & Dodd Blvd.) than before.
With almost 30 years of  hands-on  jewelry work, we feel confident in our ability to take care of your needs.  No job is sent out for service,  so you can be assured that your work will be done to your specifications, and on time.   We use only the finest in materials, and the best techniques in manufacture and repair, in all our jobs.
